Miss Paige Munroe – If ever you fall down, dust off those heels and adjust the seam of your stockings
Tell us briefly about who you are, and where you are from and really want to know the story of miss Paige Munroe.
I am one of the very few pin up models from North Dakota, USA. As you can imagine, it’s not much of a mainstream lifestyle here. I’m a mother to a beautiful minion and a tattoo artist. I’ve always been intrigued by the rockabilly fashion and eventually it took over! Viva La Vintage! Lol
Tell us, what made you think like… “hmm, I want to be a model” and when and why did this interest of yours emerge? Have you been interested in photography from childhood?
Growing up, I always felt very creative. Destined to be in some sort of spotlight. I always thought it would be singing, but I have a bad case of stage fright. I got asked to do a local pin up/hot rod calendar in 2010 and I realized how much I loved it! Modeling is definitely my “spotlight” outlet. Nothing ever came of the calendar, but it is definitely what launched my career in pinup!
How did you feel when you did your first ever fashion show or photo shoot?
Oh goodness I was so nervous! I always thought models should be tiny size 0’s and I’m a size 9-11 so I felt too chubby to be sexy. It was such a liberating experience seeing my first images! I was beautiful! Who knew?! After a couple years of modeling, I created a group called “Midwest Moxie Dolls” and have been helping other women feel confident through pinup and get featured as a model! Check them out! Who was your role model as a child an how did that help in being a model?
Paula Abdul was my first role model. I adored her! As I grew up it became Betty Page and Marilyn Monroe. I refer to them as my spirit mothers. That’s where “Paige Munroe” was born! The silly glamour is what inspires me!
What beauty tips do you swear by?
Exfoliation! Everyone needs the Baiden Mitten! Stat. Google it, thank me later!
What’s your motto or life advice that you life by?
If ever you fall down, dust off those heels and adjust the seam of your stockings. You’ll be fine. Also, detox yourself from toxic people. You get what you put out. Always be positive!
What best describes the alternative subcultures in your part of the world? Are those accepted ways of living where you’re from?
-tattooed individuals are probably the “alt subculture” in my area. It’s rather conservative. More and more people are becoming curious and open towards modified individuals in a positive manner these days, but there are still a lot of people that frown upon those who appear different. And the pin up culture is no exception. We’ve had some ignorant hate thrown our way. What can ya do?
A desolate island and a boat without gas… oops… Who do you want to be rescued by and why just that person?
The Doctor. Need I say more?!
What is a Pinup Girl to you? Describe to us the essence of Pinup Modelling.
It’s all about making women feel beautiful in their own skin! It’s liberating and wonderful! You really get in touch with your feminine side. A pin up to me is someone with gorgeous confidence :)
